Motion picture on screen: “I Was Born, But..”

The world of adults depicted through the eyes of children. Timeless masterpiece directed by Yasujiro Ozu, still considered as the best silent film of all.

Office worker Yoshii moves with his family in a new residential area in the suburbs of Tokyo. Siblings in elementary school, Ryoichi and Keiji, fights repeatedly with children from their neighborhood.

One day, during a 16 mm movie screening at the house of the managing director Iwasaki, Ryoichi saw how servile his father appeared and blames him for being a coward.

The movie starts with a humorous half that shows children trying to act big and intimidating each other, then takes on a serious touch through the children blaming their fathers and denouncing with irony the world of adults.

A comical and satiric drama about a father and his sons. Won the Kinema Junpo Award for Best Film of the Year.
